Smarter Fleet Technology for Evolve Waste Solutions

Working across London, Greater London and the Home Counties, Evolve partners with businesses to streamline waste management processes, improve sustainability performance and reduce environmental impact. Specialising in the collection of food waste, glass, dry mixed recycling and general waste, all processed through its on-site Waste Transfer Station, the company has built a reputation for reliability, achieving an impressive 99.5% service success rate.
Rapid Growth, Uncompromising Standards
Evolve’s commitment to operational excellence has fuelled a period of remarkable growth. Since its establishment in November 2024, the business has rapidly expanded its operational capacity, growing its fleet by more than 500% while establishing a seven-day-a-week service. Today, Evolve operates a diverse fleet of RCVs, recycling toploaders and RoRos, with further significant expansion planned by the end of the year.
As the business expanded, maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency and compliance became increasingly important. With more vehicles on the road, more customers to serve and more complex operations to manage, Evolve needed a technology partner capable of supporting its ambitions from day one.
Kevin Barcroft, Transport Manager and Academy Training Manager at Evolve explains: “We knew Fleetclear from our previous workplaces and we’d always been impressed with the quality of their products and their way of working. We wanted a safety partner, someone who would work with us to develop a telematics system that served our specific needs.”

Building a Partnership for Performance
Fleetclear’s collaborative approach made it a natural fit for Evolve founders Dean Croad and Adam Weedon.
Rather than simply supplying technology, Fleetclear worked alongside the team to develop a telematics solution tailored to Evolve’s operational goals, helping improve driver behaviour, reduce fuel consumption and lower the company's environmental impact.
For Kevin, a SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) instructor, the connection between fuel efficient driving and safe driving is clear: "Safe and fuel-efficient driving go hand in hand. Good driving habits not only reduce the risk of incidents, they also cut unnecessary fuel use and emissions. Working with Fleetclear has given us the tools and data to reinforce those behaviours across the fleet."
What began as a shared commitment to safety soon evolved into a broader strategy focused on operational performance, driver development and long-term sustainability.
A Connected Fleet
Following a successful trial, Evolve rolled out Fleetclear's AI-enhanced 360-degree DVR systems and Fleetclear Connect across its fleet. The platform brings together vehicle, driver and operational data in one place, giving managers real-time visibility and the insights needed to make faster, more informed decisions.
Every vehicle is also equipped with Fleetclear's Progressive Safe System (PSS), ensuring compliance with London's Direct Vision Standard (DVS) while enhancing protection for vulnerable road users through camera technology, sensors and audible warnings.
Together, the systems provide valuable information on driver behaviour, vehicle performance and incidents, helping Evolve continually improve safety, reduce environmental impact and deliver a more efficient service.

Supporting Drivers Through Technology
Technology underpins Evolve's safety culture, but the company is equally committed to supporting its drivers. Inward-facing cameras provide an accurate record of events, protecting drivers in the event of an incident while creating opportunities for targeted coaching and recognition of good performance.
"Our drivers see the cameras as a safeguard rather than surveillance," says Kevin. "They're professionals, and the footage provides reassurance that the facts are there if they're ever needed."
Performance data is used to support ongoing training, encourage healthy competition through driver league tables and reinforce best practice.
"Driving waste collection vehicles requires exceptional skill," Kevin adds. "Our drivers are constantly operating in busy environments around pedestrians and vulnerable road users. We want them to have complete confidence in both their own abilities and the technology supporting them."
The approach has helped Evolve build a highly engaged workforce with exceptionally low driver turnover, underlining the company's commitment to investing in its people as well as its fleet.
Driving Growth Through Technology
As Evolve continues to grow, its partnership with Fleetclear continues to evolve. Working closely together, the two companies have refined Fleetclear's driver performance platform, giving Evolve greater visibility of fleet performance while supporting safer, more efficient driving.
The technology also enhances customer service and sustainability. Digital fleet management tools provide greater operational transparency, while split-compartment vehicles enable multiple waste streams to be collected in a single visit, reducing vehicle movements, lowering emissions and minimising disruption for customers.
Kevin says: "Fleetclear has helped us build strong partnerships around safety and compliance. We don't just trust the products, we trust the people behind them. It's all about relationships, and investing in technology benefits everyone: our team, our customers and other road users. The support is excellent and, on the rare occasion we need assistance, it's dealt with quickly and professionally."
As Evolve continues its rapid expansion, it does so with confidence, supported by a technology partner equally committed to innovation, safety and sustainability. Together, the two companies are helping to deliver smarter, safer and more sustainable waste management services.
