South Ayrshire Council has switched from a Hard Disk Recording camera system to a LIVE vehicle camera system across its fleet of Refuse Collection Vehicles, to improve protection for drivers and crew in the event of accidents or insurance claims.

Switching from HDD to live: faster evidence, better protection

Ronnie Hannah, Fleet Officer, South Ayrshire Council said:

“We have been looking at moving to a live system for a while. The ability to see vehicles in real time and pull footage immediately when needed is a significant step forward. We don’t have to wait for vehicles to return to depot or remove hard drives.”

The council’s fleet of refuse collection vehicles is now fitted with the RXLite LIVE system from Fleetclear, which provides live video streaming and real-time tracking in one integrated system. The system can also be used to monitor driver behaviour and is compatible with a range of vehicle types.

Ronnie added:

“The system has been straightforward to use and the team at Fleetclear have been very helpful throughout the installation and setup process. We’re pleased with how it’s working and the support we’ve received.”
