Fleetclear Training Academy - The Path to Success
The idea of the ‘Fleetclear Training Academy’ was conceived in 2019, with the objective of bringing together best practices under a stringent management procedure, to create a clear path to success, and to prepare our installation engineers to handle any task that laid ahead.
We have always relied on employed engineers over sub-contractors, which has afforded us a strong foundation to create a training academy from; we have a wide range of speciality skills and backgrounds making a versatile team, decades of experience, and a mix of electrical and mechanical backgrounds.
The new ‘Fleetclear Standard’
To position the building blocks of our new approach, we brought our engineers together and explored internal and external courses to first help ‘level up’ our existing team to the new ‘Fleetclear standard’. This process revealed how enthusiastic our team was to learn more and to help others, expertise and skillsets were shared, and a broader community was established. After several weeks, when the exercise concluded, we had created what we set out to do; we were all better for the experience, and most importantly; we were ready for new starters to hit the ground running: the Fleetclear training academy was born.
New recruits start their journey with a specialised training course for onsite auto-electricians; these courses only allow up to four Engineers at a time and include a mix of theory, diagnostics, and CANBUS/vehicle integration training.
The academy then focuses on more specialised courses: (EV) electric vehicle, braking integration, cybersecurity and so on, before moving on to Fleetclear product training. To avoid product training on vehicles that are in daily operation, we invested in our own specialist training vehicle, which affords us the time to properly assess trainees, without external pressures and time constraints.
Engineer accreditation
The final stage is on-site training, where our newly trained engineers are introduced to bespoke installation requirements by one of our senior installation engineers, this process has several stages of quality sign off and peer review and is tailored to target installations in incremental leaps in complexity and risk management, for both Engineer Health & Safety and to minimise operational risk. Upon completion of the training course, ‘accredited’ engineers receive certificates for their records and ID cards to recognise their ability on-site.
