Fleetclear makes sure Biffa is ready for DVS 2

Biffa required upgrades across 111 vehicles at 19 depots where operations cover the Greater London area. Following a tender process and a successful bid by Fleetclear every applicable vehicle has now been retrofitted with the Fleetclear PSS system.

Under the terms of the new DVS all HGVs (that is vehicles over 12t) now require an HGV safety permit to operate in Greater London. The aim of the regulations is to minimise the risks to vulnerable road users and reduce fatalities caused by poor driver vision.

Only HGVs rated 3 stars and above, or those fitted with a Progress Safe System (PSS) are now permitted on London’s streets and many operators have already fallen foul of the new requirements and received hefty fines because of non-compliance – up to £550 per operator and £150 per driver, per vehicle, per day.
