Enhance operational efficiency, safety & compliance with telematics

Tracking and telemetry play a pivotal role in modern fleet and transportation operations, offering valuable insights into driver behaviour, fuel efficiency and vehicle performance.

Our telematics and fleet software solutions can be deployed on all makes and models of vehicles, from passenger cars, buses, and coaches to LGVs and HGVs, across a wide range of industries from logistics, haulage and construction to waste management, highways and emergency services. The same technology can also be effectively used for tracking pedestrian workers and to monitor non-powered assets.

Telematics data equips fleet operators with crucial information needed to make informed decisions regarding safety standards, operational optimisation and to promote responsible, fuel-efficient driving practices. The subsequent savings and efficiencies from employing telematics equipment tends to greatly outweigh the costs of installing and managing the technology.

Converting data into insights

Efficiently managing the huge amount of data created by vehicle and other business systems can be challenging but is essential for operational success.  Our proprietary web-based platform, Fleetclear Connect consolidates and simplifies data, integrating vehicle safety technology, with third party systems, tracking and telematics. Subsequently, fleet operators are equipped to monitor, track and record fleets in real-time, as well as proactively oversee the deployment of safety technology, analyse data to identify trends and produce reports.

Safety and driver efficiency

According to Royal Sun Alliance Insurance, 94% of all crashes are due to human error. Taking steps to prevent road traffic accidents and increase fleet safety must include improving driving skills.

Driver data provides detailed insights and analysis on individual drivers, such as harsh braking, speeding, and a higher-than-average number of vehicle safety device alerts (all of which indicate a higher risk of collision). This data enables the identification of specific training requirements and the detection of behaviour patterns across whole fleets. By collecting telematics data on a team’s driving behaviour, it is possible to rank drivers by safety score and coach them on safer driving habits to improve a fleet’s overall safety levels.

10-20% of all crashes are caused by driver fatigue. Making regular stops is critical, particularly during long-distance trips. Well-rested drivers drive more effectively, react quicker to traffic situations, and find more optimal routes. Telematics data will detect missed breaks and flag any issues to managers.

Effective driver and vehicle monitoring leads to safer driving practices, which results in fewer accidents. Safer driving means reduced vehicle maintenance and a more cost-efficient operation. Driver telematics also ensure that routine maintenance checks are performed on every vehicle.

Data captured from telematics devices can be combined with driver feedback and used to create safer more efficient routes for drivers, to reduce delivery times and fuel usage.

Improving the customer experience

Telematics can also help to enhance the customer or end user experience by providing transparency and streamlining operations.

We have developed a real-time ETA calculator to support daily time-critical operations and improve customer communications. The geofencing feature of Fleetclear Connect means operators can track and compare the performance of each driver against delivery schedules and use this information to improve service levels.

Heatmaps that show the deployment of safety technology are another feature of our system. These maps are invaluable in highlighting high-risk areas or time-zones e.g. by identifying where or when there is a high proportion of cyclists, vulnerable road users, or pedestrians.

Compliance & vehicle maintenance

Telematics can simplify compliance management by monitoring safety and environmental standards. Real-time alerts and engine diagnostics allow corrective maintenance to be carried out quickly, and help to prevent violations and fines, as well as enhance security, mitigate high-cost repairs and optimise maintenance expenses.

The lifecycle of vehicles can also be managed by tracking hours of use, engine hours, service records and scheduling preventative maintenance.

Security & lone worker safety

Vehicle security is a priority, with fleets at increased risk of theft or unauthorized use. Tracking technology offers an additional layer of protection for crews and valuable assets by minimising potential security risks.

To address lone worker safety, we recently launched a safety solution that shows the live location and historic routes for lone workers and non-powered assets such as street cleansing barrows, bicycles and litter picking devices.

Personal trackers are body worn and can provide a lifeline in emergency situations, featuring automatic man down SOS alerts, two-way call capabilities and a panic button to send an SMS or make an emergency call to request help if needed.

Insurance risk assessment & incident resolution

Telematics data helps insurance companies to assess driver behaviour and set insurance premiums accordingly. In the case of accidents, incidents, complaints or false insurance claims our integrated camera systems provide crucial evidence for swift incident resolution, and at the same time foster accountability and enhance safety measures.

Retrieving the relevant footage is also swift and easy thanks to the geofencing search capabilities available via Fleetclear Connect software.

Duty of care and reputation management

Employing tracking and telematics systems shows a clear commitment to the safety of staff, customers and the public safety. It also demonstrates environmental responsibility and reinforces a culture of efficiency.

Adopting this proactive approach enhances the reputation or fleet operators, and helps to instill confidence in customers, partners, and stakeholders.
