Cumberland Council, formally Carlisle City Council, has equipped its waste and recycling fleet with camera systems and Cyclear™ from Fleetclear to improve safety and provide evidence in the event of incidents.

Cameras and Cyclear across the waste fleet

Liam Prince, Operations Supervisor, Waste Services said:

“The camera systems have given us a lot more confidence. If there’s an incident or a complaint, we can check the footage and deal with it quickly. It’s reassuring for drivers too – they know they’re protected.”

The council has adopted Fleetclear’s technology as part of its standard vehicle specification. The systems are used across the waste and recycling fleet, with Cyclear fitted to refuse collection vehicles to protect cyclists and vulnerable road users.

Liam Prince, Operations Supervisor, Waste Services said:

“Cyclear has been well received by drivers. They feel more aware of what’s happening around them, especially when turning. It’s a simple but effective piece of kit.”
